AD | Perth Creative Exchange Artists Present their 2025 Spring Market and Open Studios Event!
Springtime! And Perth Creative Exchange is a hive of activity as the resident artists and makers prepare to throw open the doors to this unique event on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May!
The market features a diverse mix of work by invited creatives, all working professionally in the local area. Meanwhile up in the studios you can find more beautiful work for sale, take a peek behind the scenes, have a chat and watch a demonstration or two. If you’ve ever wondered what exactly artists do all day then this is your chance to come and find out!
Su Grierson, Ceramic Lava
One of the event organisers, ceramicist Ceri White, always draws a small crowd while demonstrating pottery throwing in her studio. She says “We do love to show off what we do and best of all is the enthusiasm of our visitors. I honestly think everyone gets something great from it, not least of all some really thoughtful, special gifts and a real insight to how they are created.”
This season the artists have curated a fascinatingly varied collection, including paintings, ceramics, jewellery, printmaking, woodcraft, illustration, feltwork, textiles, glassware etc, and with lots of new creatives this year, both resident and invited, there’s plenty for even our regular visitors to discover!
Hooperhart, Wooden Diorama
Liz Myhill, Maiden Rocks
As always there will be a small pop-up cafe running, offering teas, coffee, cake and light bites to keep everyone going - brought to you this year by Perth’s own Catering Twist! And with a small community garden within the grounds there is plenty of space to hopefully enjoy some spring sunshine and you might even catch a little live music through the day!
The Creative Exchange, which has just entered its fifth year since opening, has rapidly established itself as a hub not just for artists but also for the wider community and local businesses, with skill sharing, classes and training opportunities regularly taking place. As Su Grierson (a studio tenant who was a driving force in campaigning for such a building) observes, “Art can be a lonely profession…and after many years of effort from local artists wanting to create a workplace and hub for artists in Perthshire, we have now enjoyed five years in this welcoming and vibrant space of artistic activity”.
All in all this promises to be a lovely and really unique couple of days so do come along, have a chat and enjoy a relaxing and inspiring time exploring the wealth of creative talent in your area.
