Spring Views at Loch Earn

Spring Views at Loch Earn

All of us feel an extra burst of energy and joy as we hear the birds singing again, seen green shoots springing up and feel the warmth of sun on our faces, which makes it a great time to get out and about and explore Perthshire.

Of course, we all know that spring weather can be unpredictable, but that’s what makes it interesting! It also means the views are ever-changing. We can’t imaging ever running out of Perthshire scenery to photograph, because it’s different every time we go. Perthshire can be vibrant green, soft purple, shining ochre, misty blue or golden brown.

During this photoshoot the skies were a mixture of fresh, light blue and low grey clouds chasing the sun in and out, the landscape was lit with soft olive greens and browns, sometimes brightening, sometimes fading into washed out arctic blue, shadowed with slate grey. Buoys added a splash of incongruous red to the breeze-rippled water.

Background noise was provided by rustling branches and a family of ducks, whose quacking may not be exactly melodious in itself, but always serves to emphasise and enhance the atmosphere of any body of water.

A well-known feature of Loch Earn is ‘Moodnight Meadow’ a ‘cowch’ by Perthshire artist Ceri White that has become part of the local BLiSS trail, created by Loch Earn Tourism Information, which features a series of fun installations to follow along the route. Other features include  its picturesque wooden piers, which make a great subject for photographers, amateur and professional alike.

So, the next time you have a day off and you’re not sure what to do with it — maybe the spring weather isn’t great, or you’re not up to walking far — why not take a drive around Loch Earn? The scenery is always spectacular and you could do some, or even all, of the BLiSS art trail. And stopping off for a coffee or hot chocolate along the way could only make it even better!
