There’s plenty to enjoy on this walk, located on the outskirts of Perth. Starting off by skirting round some fields, it soon opens out to a wide and usually dry path, which slopes gently upwards through woodland to the summit that has stunning views of Perth and the surrounding area

Whichever way you get to Rannoch (either from the direction of Aberfeldy or Pitlochry), the scenery on the way is pretty spectacular. Choose the picturesque Schiehallion road or go through Tummel Bridge and enjoy the views over Loch Tummel. The really impressive thing about Rannoch, though, is the variety of scenery you drive through once you arrive.
We like to visit this picturesque Perthshire village with our camera fairly regularly, as it’s something of a hidden gem in many ways, though perhaps most famous for the Fortingall Yew
