AD | Country Bar of the Year Award for Karma Lake of Menteith
Karma Lake of Menteith is celebrating winning Scotland’s Country Bar of the Year in the National Hotels of the Year Scotland Awards 2025, held at Glasgow's Crowne Plaza Hotel. It’s the latest in a string of prestigious industry awards for the sixteen bedroom hotel, enjoying an idyllic location on the shores of the Lake of Menteith.
Acquired by the worldwide Karma Group in 2021, the hotel has not looked back in terms of awards for its food, drink, talented staff, or its accommodation.
Launched in 2003 as the Scottish Hotel Awards, the awards give travel writers, industry experts, and their peers, the opportunity to independently and thoroughly get to know individual hotels. Looking to recognise the skill and qualities of key individuals within hotels, the scheme has grown to become the National Hotels of the Year Scotland, working with Scothoc and the Scottish Tourism Alliance.
In 2025, the award founders are hard at work on an expanded Scottish Hotel support programme to aid the hospitality sector at this time.
With its passion for specially curated drinks, together with its specialist malt Whisky Vault, The Port Bar at Karma Lake of Menteith really impressed the judges.
“Here at Karma Group we have a wine philosophy that includes our own labelled wines, which we create in vineyards close to our resorts in France and wider Europe,” said Operations Manager, Joshua Ford.
Mr Ford collected the award at the National Hotels of the Year Scotland, commenting that he was “beyond proud to have Country Bar of the Year Scotland for Karma Lake of Menteith, as the award truly reflects the hard work and dedication of our amazing team, who deliver exceptional service every single day. A big shout-out to all my industry friends who also took home awards, it is great to see the industry across Scotland truly thriving in tough times.”
He added: “In our cosy and welcoming Port Bar you’ll find an incredible selection of wines and many rare malt whiskies from across Scotland, several of them from the local Deanston Distillery in the Trossachs.
“We also have our own label gin, and our own label blended whisky which customers can enjoy when they visit or buy a bottle, when available, to take away. Our drinks selection, together with our attentive service, and knowledge of whisky, ensured that we clinched this award for the hotel.”
