A new venue for budding artists has just launched in Perthshire at Comrie Croft near Crieff. It is offering the opportunity to come and explore the facilities available and have a go at sketching something from nature during two free open days in May and June.

Comrie Art Hut is run by local artist and tea specialist Beverly Wainwright, who has studied at Leith school of art and Bridge House art school. The Art Hut collaborates with artists from across Scotland to offer a variety of week-long creative courses over the summer, and weekend courses in the autumn.

Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience the art hut offers a warm welcome. It has a light and peaceful studio and teaching room, perfect for adults looking for a creative opportunity and a chance to take a bit of “time out” of their busy lives.

Beverly says: “I set up the Art Hut to provide a creative space for beginners or more experienced artists alike to come along and express themselves through a variety of visual arts courses. I’m so excited to work with some wonderful and talented art tutors and to finally launch my new venture.”

The Hut will be open for general viewing and free sketching taster sessions, on the theme of Patterns in Nature, on Thursday 9th May and/or Saturday 1st June 10.30 - 3.30. Sketching materials will be provided to draw and explore patterns and shapes using natural materials such as leaves, mosses, florals and stones.

At the beginning of June, Beverly will host her first art course at the Hut, a four day experience involving sketching local walks. It is an opportunity to relax, connect with the local landscape and enjoy the freedom to work in a studio. She also has courses lined up with artist bookmaker, Jan Breckenridge and local multi media artist Liz Kemp.
